Air commodore A. GOSWAMI, the founder of the centre, was very closely connected with the selection system in his service career. He occupied all the important positions in the selection board like the G.T.O, Sr.G.T.O, Dy. President and finally the president. During his tenure in these posts he realized that-
a) The education system in our schools and colleges was not geared towards the requirement of an officer. While the S.S.B. sought to gauge the all round personality of an individual, this aspect was ignored in most of our schools and colleges. Thus majority of the students going to the S.S.B did not have an idea as to what the S.S.B seeks to assess.
b) A coaching approach normally doesn’t pay adequate attention as far as development of personality of a student is concerned but stress is laid to teach the student what the selection board is looking for, on the contrary the candidate should be taught how to reveal his actual personality and leave it to the selection board to inter-prate the same as per their requirement. Thus most of the time a border line case and some time a good student may suffer and fail to qualify which they would have, if not coached
Many friends and citizens of the town persuaded him to let the youth of Dehradun benefit from his expertise and positive views on guidance. Thus, in OCT’1988 after retirement Air Cmde A. Goswami formed the centre single handed. With a view to familiarize the students with S.S.B procedure and guide them, so that, they could project their original personality to the best of their advantage.
Since 1988, the center has not looked back and has produced very good results. Unfortunately the statistics was not compiled from the beginning. Subsequently an effort has been made to compile some sort of information. The Academy is improving its results each year and we hope that it will succeed in achieving its goals to the fullest.

(2) GTO Technique – Vast exp. In training & standardizing GTO’s.
(3) Psychological Technique – In capacity of holding the positions of Deputy President & President accumulated vast exp. In supervising the work & performance of psychologists; in the process large amount of exposure in the conduct of psychological technique was gained.
